Holidays with Haven - Great Yarmouth

Its no secret that we recently became caravan holiday converts.
After years of turning our nose up at caravan holidays in the UK we completely changed our mind after being gifted a break in 2018. We were so impressed we decided to return over Easter this year paying with our very own hard earned money!

We decided to return to the exact same Holiday park - Haven Seashore in Great Yarmouth because we enjoyed it so much last time. We travelled up on the bank holiday Friday and arrived at lunch time. We had some friends that were staying there the week before and going home on the Friday so we set out early so we could meet them for a quick lunch in the on site Burger King. After some arcade games and goodbyes we collected our keys at about 2.30pm and made ourselves at home.

The Caravan was lovely. Three bedrooms, two bathrooms and a lovely lounge area with a fully equipped kitchen. The Caravan also had a luxury wrap around decking area which we were able to make full use of as the weather was AMAZING! The decking area was perfect for Peggy so she could be outside but couldn't get out and she loved barking at everyone walking past! (Yep we were that family!) We were so lucky to have picked such a lovely weekend.

The afternoon we spent down on the beach walking Peggy and the kids had a little paddle in the sea (it was freezing!) It felt so nice to just have a break as both Joe and I had been working really hard upto the Easter weekend.

As a fairly last minute get away we didnt have a lot of money to spend so we decided to have dinner in the caravan the first evening. I made a big Chilli Con Carne at home the day before and took it with us, so all I had to do was reheat it and chuck some rice packs in the microwave. The Caravan had a large selection of DVD's so we snuggled up on the sofa with popcorn watching Charlie and the Chocolate factory...well the others did, I fell asleep!

On the Saturday Joe did us all a cooked breakfast which he brought to me in bed haha! Spoilt! We then headed into Yarmouth for a little bit of shopping and ice creams. The main street was absolutely heaving because the weather was so nice, so we didn't stay long. Busy crowds just fill me with fear that I might lose a kid or two! So we headed back to the caravan site and decided to try out the new pool. I believe it has only just re-opened after having a revamp and the kids loved it! It now has an indoor splash zone which is perfect for children Delilahs age so I don't have to panic about her drowning!

Saturday night we decided to have dinner out in the on site pub. We arrived at about 7.30 and were met with 'have you booked?' We both looked blankly at each other as we hadn't realised you had to book as it was off-peak when we last came. Luckily they had just had a cancellation so gave us a table straight away which was right by the soft play so perfect for us. I had the Vegan burger with sweet potato fries and Joe had Ribs which were both lovely!

Sunday was Easter Sunday and the weather was amazing so we spent most of the day on the beach. The kids built sandcastles and played some weird variation of tennis where they made the rules up as they went along while Peggy evidently ate sand.

Later we went to get ice creams but decided to have a look around the show caravans that they had for sale. Wow! Just Wow! I had no idea Caravans could be so luxurious. If I had the money I would definitely consider it! And that comes from a previous caravan phobe!

In true Easter Sunday traditions I made a full roast dinner in the Caravan! It was so easy as it was equipped with literally everything you could need. And clearing up was quick as it even had a dishwasher.

Monday morning we traded in all of our arcade tickets for Stanley's body weight in sweets. It has to be done, right? And packed up the car to head home.

On route we stopped off at Gorleston Beach for some chips and ice cream (typical tourists) and just like that our little weekend away was over.

We are now complete converts and love a caravan holiday. If anyone has any other destinations that they recommend then please let me know so we can plan our next little break.

The Harmons x
