Fun at the Fair with Carters Steam Fair

** This post contains a gifted day out,but all opinions are completely my own**

When Carters steam Fair got in touch and invited us to their Steam Fair I gladly accepted thinking it would be a great day out for the kids!...I was wrong! Joe and I enjoyed it just as much as the kids, it was a great day out for all of us!

If you are local to Essex then Carters Steam Fair is currently in Maldon Promenade Park until 2nd June, which is perfect if you are stuck for things to do over this half term! If not then just check out their website here and you can see when they are coming to a town near you.

If you are planning on visiting then I definitely advise booking online beforehand. They do some brilliant ticket bundles where they give you extra rides for free. The more tickets you buy, the more free rides you get too! We had tickets for 20 rides and honestly we would have brought some more tickets if the rain hadn't cut our day short. The assortment of rides is brilliant and suits all ages. I'm not going to lie I was a little nervous on the 'Whirl A Round Twist' but Stanley absolutely loved it.

Delilah had a brilliant time, there were plenty of rides aimed at toddlers and preschoolers. I'm not sure if you can tell by her face but she loved the 'Gallopers' and was super excited to be riding on the horse named Stan!

...and insisted on going on every ride where she could 'drive.'

The history of this fair is really something quite special. The rides date back to between the 1890's and the 1960's and have all been lovingly restored and hand painted by the Carter family who have slowly added to their collection over the years. The attention to detail is something else and its clear to see that the Carter family have so much pride in what they do. The entire fair ground was spotlessly clean which is not something you see very often and all of the attractions well maintained and cared for. As with the rides, the games and side stalls are also vintage and completely restored by the family. We were lucky enough to also be given a token to treat ourselves to some candyfloss which turned out to be a perfect photo opportunity!

We had an amazing day out and enjoyed creating memories as a family. Unfortunately the rain meant we didn't stay as long as we would have liked as I was desperate to ride 'Skid' again but there's always next year!

Thanks for having us!

The Harmons x
